  • SIN-SYD Commute on the 73A

Here's a quick summary of my flight on the newly retrofitted 777-300 (Yankee Foxtrot) this morning.

    Date: 13 September 2009
Sector: Singapore (SIN) – Sydney (SYD)
    Flight: SQ231
    Aircraft: 777-300
    Rego: 9V-SYF
    Seat: 15H (Business Class)
    ETD: 0025
    ETA: 0955
    ATD: 0023
    ATA: 0941
    Flight Time: 7.3hrs

The retrofitted 777-300 has been in captive rotation on SQ231/232 for quite a few weeks now but so far not many decent pictures of the retrofitted interior so far. Having tried out the new regional J on the 333 during its soft launch, I wanted to try out the ones on the 73A as well.

Had a peek at zone A, available space makes it impossible to have 3 rows of Diamond+ unless extensive modification to the stock design (No pictures though).

Not much changes to the J cabin apart from the new seats. Carpet still the old version, no mood lighting, IFE controller still the same (not eX2 version) & middle overhead compartments not removed. Seats are slightly wider than the ones on the 333.

Crew were pretty good and efficient throughout the flight. Nothing beats a gentle wakeup nudge and a beautiful FSS (FSS Ueda) waiting next to you with a hot towel to freshen up for breakfast.

    Cabin

    Customary SQT foot shot.

    IFE

IFE GUI is a really stripped down version of the eX2 GUI. Very basic but it's very responsive.

    Breakfast

Highlight of the flight - Slipper Lobster Thermidor for brekkie.

Finally some pictures on the 73A!
New Regional J cabin looks very much more airy and spacious than on the 333.

        Thanks for sharing, Nick C.

I'm glad they kept the middle overhead compartment.

If only they did a full refurbishment and not a half arsed one.

Excellent choice when your cabin mates are having soggy eggs, chewy sausages, rock hard croissants and mushy beans.

did u go to the economy class section to see the seats? are they the same as the new Economy Class in B777-300ER, A380 and A330-300?

Agreed, but still... I would fly this aircraft any day over CX regional J... new or old.

This has been discussed umpteen times. Your answer can be found in this thread.

Don't forget their "wonderful" herringbone J as well. I rather have a lie flat at 172˚ than a claustrophobic 180˚ one.

Sadly no. I will most probably be flying in 2 weeks time on the 73A once again. This time I will grab some shots of the F cabin.
