Agreed! Maybe my expectations were slightly differ..hahah....i mean for a standard in Orchard road compared to Hyatt, Marriot and Hilton... Any reccomendations where would i be place for the next trip to SIN? I'm sure you are master at it

Actually I thought SQflyergirl's room at the Conrad wasn't too bad. I would give it a go.

Seeing as I live here, though, I wouldn't say I've had to use hotels much at all. I did however two weekends ago give the Amara Sanctuary Sentosa a try (part of the Singapore Stopover Holiday promos). It was relaxing (very spacious lobby) but nothing overly special.

Then there's the much talked-about St Regis that the majority of Starwooders seem still not to fancy, with the slightly smaller minority favoring it. I'm considering using one of my free weekend nights there, I've got two now... are you into SPG properties? Might be worth considering if you are (especially with status)

Yeah...conrad looks good...but st. regis...ermm..slightly too victorian and old for me but it has it's own class of people...hope you would enjoy your stay then..thanks for the info anyway as i always prefer staying near the MRT whereby i can go about easily... So, anywhere in s'pore which is near the MRT station is fine with me...and yes, i'm into SPG prop

Looks can be VERY deceiving -- especially with this property. If I had based everything on the pictures, I would have never set foot in there. Try it out for yourself.

I do think it's a slight majority that doesn't prefer it more than those on SQTalk who do. Topic for another thread, though!

Left changi around 8ish and went straight to Meritus Mandarin...(wanted to try something different this time around) which not to my liking actually. Some advice whoever who wants to stay there for now:-

1) Was staying in their premier room - which is very rundown (according to the front office, it's their recent newly refurbish room) and looks really old

2) They are renovating the older blocks, therefore, you will hear construction going on regardless which floor or block you are at

Try not to stay there for now Ask SQ 0303, he was in the room...(that's not what you guys are thinking )

kevSQ, very true indeed. This what i call a half f**k refurbishment. Some cosmetic changes to the furnitures/LCD-TV and thats it. it reminds me of the KL Sheraton Imperial as well...another half baked refurbishment done sometime back with the same effect as Mandarin..
