Very interesting to hear how you experienced VS! Looking much forward!

We are planning to visit Las Vegas this summer but are in dubio how to get there......

    Options are from AMS:

    BA AMS - LGW
VS LGW - LAS *upper class!*

    or
US AMS - PHL *All new lie flat beds on their 767 in C*
    PHL - LAS

    or
UA AMS - ORD * Chance of getting their new flat beds on their 767 in C*
    ORD - LAS

KL, NW, DL are not really my preffered carriers.

Problem is that we are planning JFK / EWR on the way back wich of course doesn't make travelling with US and UA back to AMS easy.
Any remarks or suggestions are kindly appreciated!

I must apologise for not actually finishing this report... The return journey was just so appalling I've tried to forget about it.

To keep it brief ... The rest of the journey to Vegas was pretty pleasant - cabin crew were very friendly but very forgetful ...
My parents were living it up in Premium Economy - though they both admitted it probably wasn't worth the extra expense. They said they basically got exactly the same as I did except with a bit extra legroom. In fact they complained that VS had run out of their choice of meal!!!

Vegas is always a fun place to go if you are there with an open mind (a bit like disney land) and I met a few new friends at the roulette table - do I get flamed for talking about gambling

Anyway, the stay was awesome. I ate too many American sized portions - damn I do love eating those large cakes!!! In fact I was quite glad to be going home!!

But the journey back was terrible!!
The flight was delayed by an hour - because a private jet was taking off.
The crew were absolutely diabolical - I couldn't believe how terrible they were. They would ask whether you wanted a drink and then not bring it. They were completely disorganised with the serving of meals - crew having to stop meal service to help with special meals. That was a bizarre sight - trolleys basically just parked in the corridor. The other crew manning the trolley was waiting for the other person to come back before continuing service - very odd me thinks.
And if that wasn't enough... the luggagehold had picked up some damage on the way to London and they couldn't open it!!! And then once they opened it, the baggage crew who were assigned to our flight had be reassigned because their allocated time for our VS flight was up. I don't care if it was true or not - it was mighty frustrating - I ended waiting at the carousel for over an hour... And to top it all off, a VS groundstaff by the carousel had the hilarity to ask me if everything was ok... Obviously in my mind I was burning with much anger but in reality I kept saying "it's cool, it's cool... this happens with the other airline I travel with".

Now the final reason why I have been so traumatised, is a friend of mine is proposing that he has his bachelor party in Vegas ... cue massive trauma and a proper trip report without some of the details because I know what a prim and proper group of people we have on here

I did LAS-LGW-LAS in Upper Class 3 years ago. Wonderful journey in both directions. I flew out on Christmas day so the airports were quiet. Interesting the 12 seats in Upper Class were all taken. A lovely journey. It was like a slumber party in the sky with the flight attendents all wearing little Santa outfits!

The ratio of crew to PAX was 1:4. I'm always amazed by who you meet riding in the front. The wife of the pilot and their 2 children. A mother and her son and daughter (who were in their 30s) flying back on a shopping trip to Vegas for a few days. A retired stripper. A couple who booked last minute on a quick getaway. How romantic They had the two space capsules right at the front.

SQTraveller - to have a 1 hour delay at a US airport is completely normal.
