Oh dear, I know this thread is so inappropriate! But I'm really bored sitting here and thought I'd share this bit of information with anyone who is interested. Feel free to ignore the thread if you so desire.
So I was on SQ638. Arrived in NRT yesterday morning. While queuing at immigration, this gentleman walked along to join the queue. I thought he was rather 'tall, dark and handsome'. He spoke to one of the ushers with a Singaporean accent, so I knew he was on my flight. I took a look at him again and noticed he had a pilot hat (is that the right terminology?) with the SQ logo in his hand.
How very strange. I hope someone can enlighten me.
1. He was not in uniform. Polo shirt I think.
2. He arrived along with the other passengers, not with the rest of the crew.
3. He did not go through the crew counter.
4. A deadhead?
5. I thought pilots need perfect vision. I think he was wearing glasses. Flight engineer? Do they have them on the A380? Sorry I'm not an aviation enthusiast. I don't know the roles of various people.
I should have been kaypoh and asked him when I had the opportunity when the queue moved along. But because (I think!) he caught me staring at him (twice!)and I looked away guiltily each time, I thought that would not be the cool thing to do.
I did turn around one final time before I left the queue and I don't think he missed that either. Aiyoh, think of the lost opportunities!
