  • What's the furthest you've been from home? Ever been to its antipodal city?

Home airport: SZB (closer to home than KUL)

Furthest: Salta Argentina, SLA, 17235KM from home.

    Map

The closest antipodal major city to my home would be GYE, Guayaquil Ecuador, 19832KM from SZB... must go there one of these days.

What's your record? How far away have you been from home?

For now....EWR 15,345km. So near, its doable non-stop

Have a trip to CLO in the pipeline that would make it my furthest. 19,461km.

The furthest city from my SIN home base would have to be JFK, 15,349km away. Not sure how to locate my antipodal city.

Furthest from MEL according to the Great Circle Mapper is London at 10 503 miles, narrowly beating The Big Apple at 10 374 miles.

edited to add - Oops I forgot about the following:
        Dublin at 10 682 miles
        Edinburgh at 10 499 miles

I've travelled from LHR to Stewart Island, New Zealand.
I don't recall seeing an airport on Stewart Island.

          LHR-SZS
          = 11,830 miles
          = 18,928 km

Home in Nottingham (via MAN) to both Hobart (AU) and Christchurch (NZ), great circle mileage 10,877 and 11,709 miles respectively (17,505 km and 18,844 km).

According to Savage25's link, my "hole" would end up being about 650 miles South East of Christchurch, right in the Southern Ocean, so reckon that's the antipodal match (ok, closely beaten by Dunedin and Invercargill, but only by about 50 miles)

OK, now I'm living near HAJ (Hannover/Germany)- my hole would end up roundabout 1500 miles southeast of New Zealand's southern tip. And no, I haven't been there . Have been to Auckland though, does this count?

If I would set it up where I was born, I would end in the middle of the northern Atlantic- yet another place where SQ doesn't fly me, so I don't wanna go there

                    Auckland: 11501mi
There's only One way to fly.... SINGAPORE AIRLINES!
If SQ is too expensive, the other way to fly is Qatar Airways
