Not good, but it was probably a matter of time before something like this happened.

You are right, it was bound to happen eventually - economic terrorism, days before Christmas.

The shadow transport secretary was blaming the government.....because exclusion zones of something like 1km should be, according to him, I think 5-6km.

That was one of the more stupid things I've heard about the incident. The size of an exclusion zone isn't itself an issue when a criminal will work in criminal ways...…. I mean, despite guns being totally outlawed, it doesn't stop criminals shooting people.

A more technical way needs to be found/used and I am pretty sure the army will have something that might work. Like mobile phone blockers, there should/might be a way to block radio frequencies to the drone? The problem would be knowing where to block. Short of a full EMP I'm not sure how to block signals around an airspace the size of Gatwick.

Hopefully airlines can shift aircraft and passengers to other airport - I think RyanAir shifted their already.

They are still there! The military have been called in to sort it out.

All flights suspended at LGW because of drones sighted in the morning UK time. Lots of travel disrupted.
