Malaysia has done so. Even Thailand takes a picture of foreigners' faces. In your opinion, will Singapore do something similar, which is more likely to be biometric scanning?

Singapore can implement.... but expect extremely long queues, unless they double the number of immigration counters in Changi. -

Didn't they try it during the Mas Selamat debacle? I remembered having to get everyone out of the car at both links to Malaysia to run our thumbprints thru the machine. Traffic jams galore.
Biometric access are available in Singapore to PRs and maybe even EP holders, so long as the foreigners passport carries the new biometric chip.Comment

Not a maybe, it is definitely available as I use it. Although the biometric chip does exist in my passport, the SIN scanners only scan/photograph the front page with all the personal info and seem to match it to their in-built database. Detection of the 'biometric chip bit' doesn't seem to be necessary at all...Originally posted by CarbonMan View PostComment

A biometric collection system, National Foreigners Enforcement and Registration (Biometrics) System (NERS), will be implemented by Malaysian authorities at all entry and exit points in Malaysia on 01 June 2011.
The collection of biometrics from both left and right index fingers will apply to all foreigners entering and leaving Malaysia, with the exception of Diplomatic Passport holders, disabled passengers, and children below the age of 12.
Longer queues at entry and exit points are expected during the first few months of implementation. Customers travelling to and from Malaysia should expect to spend more time at the airport, and are advised to leave for the airport early to avoid any delay.
