If you do make it on Friday and want to meet up for a drink let me know, I'll still be here

you were fortunate that you had arrived 1900 hours, if earlier, the Phaya Thai station was closed...Originally posted by sqdazz View PostI just passed through arriving at 1900 yesterday and now at BKK heading off again. I used the airport link/bts sky train to get from BKK to National Stadium and my hotel (mercure siam). All worked really well, used the same route back. Avoided all traffic, everything ran smoothly. I sat in my room and ordered room service during the curfew and did some work. Not so bad.

Glad to know.....Originally posted by Lobster View PostI've been here for the last 3 days and I would be hard pushed to know that the military had taken over. I've not seen a single soldier on the streets.
the curfew is a bit of a pain, but every night it is ignored more and more with most bars opening until midnight and saying that either today or tomorrow they will return to normal opening hours
I have booked to be in BKK Friday night... but that may change as something have cropped up, will wait until EU open later.
The club that I use to go posted that they will be opened, then a friend sent a pic last night..... lets see what happens..

Yes you will need to book the transfer back to the airport. You will not be able to just pick up a cab on the street during the curfew

you may need to book one....perhaps an AOT limo might be in orderOriginally posted by TerryK View PostThanks all for your insight.
I assume it will not be a problem going from airport, however, I am concerned that there may not be cabs available going to airport. I have a 6AM departure and I am not sure if cabs are available in the city at 330AM.

Well I said Prayuth had quite an ego, but even so some of the comments over the last few days have been hysterical, even by Thai political standards.
Utter nonsense. People flying in and out of Bangkok are free to travel to and from the airport all night during the curfew.Originally posted by cscs1956 View PostYou have to wait till 5am next morning. I think there is a notice posted at the airport.
With exception of those taxi with License.
Please stick to your 'specialised subjects' : Airport Infrastructure anything that goes wrong in Singapore or with one of its companies.Last edited by MAN Flyer; 26 May 2014, 05:00 AM.

Travel to/from the airport is exempted from the curfew so it shouldn't be a problem unless you plan on taking a train or bus.Originally posted by TerryK View PostWith curfew, is it a problem for late night arrivals to go into downtown Bangkok?
Just have an e-ticket print out and all should be good.
