Seoul Dining - Five Days, Five Dinners

By now, both our bellies were bursting...we offered each other words of encouragement..."press on"..."endure"..."you can do it"..."only 3 more courses to go, excluding dessert"...

Tender, juicy beef short ribs...



Raw crab marinated in soy...



The crab was served cold, gelatinous, with a generous helping of roe. This was delicious, with a deep and intense flavour. I could only eat a small portion as it was such a rich and pungent dish.



Mrs yflyer gleefully devoured all the rest...leaving only the shell.

And finally rice and soup...

Dessert was a comparatively simple affair...

And sweet tea...

After that stupendous meal, we stepped outside for a stroll around the grounds...



It was a cool March evening, perfect for a walk in the garden.



There was a courtyard with a wood fire burning.

Mrs yflyer and I were taken on a long culinary journey that evening. It was exceptionally refined cuisine, served with very fresh ingredients and a very light touch.

While not at the cutting edge of modern Korean cuisine, it was a great showcase of Korea's culinary history and traditions.

And a very nice setting too, with beautiful grounds, and total privacy while dining.



A very memorable evening!

Mrs yflyer liked the room so much that she even declined my offer to move across the street to try out the Park Hyatt Seoul (a much newer and more striking hotel, with rooms to match) for the last day of our stay.

She should've taken you up on your offer. She wouldn't have left Seoul.

I was all ready to pack my bags and switch! But Mrs yflyer did have a point that one night was really too short a stay for a place like the Park Hyatt Seoul...she would need more time to explore the hotel facilities, health club, catering, and whatever else the Park Hyatt had to offer...hmmm...is she belatedly also catching the travel bug?

stirred up memories for me yflyer - wife and i stayed at IC Grand Parnas last year, when we abandoned the kids for a break. Great location with the train station just in front. And they upgraded us for the reno inconvenience. thks for sharing
