$16 for a bus is expensive but given the distance between Melbourne Airport and the City sounds reasonable.Here in Adelaide you can get on a J1 OR J2 FOR LESS than $5 dollars but that is not a fair comparison.

You can actually spend less than $10 to travel between Melbourne airport to CBD. However, such journey will take you to some suburban areas and then, you have to take a train to the CBD. It will take considerable amount of time to get to your destination though.
