Hi Guys,

Here's to my first post on SQTalk. I have a question: I'll be soon flying from SIN-CGK on SQ957 (or SQ960, I forgot) and the aircraft equipment they'll be using is a Boeing 777-300, NOT an ER model.

Now, these triple sevens haven't been upgraded to the new economy yet, (yes, I'll be flying Economy Class. :angryfire:) But anyway, I haven't flown on this route for a long time, (last time was 2007) and I totally forgot what entertainment systems they have. The new SQ Economy has these high-class entertainment AVODs but they don't have great games. I remember when I was flying SQ1 back in 2007 to Hong Kong/Singapore, they had these small screens, but really good games like Pokemon and Kirby.

Do the triple 7s on the SIN-CGK and the CGK-SIN route still have these treasures?

Thanks,
SQTriple7

B777 Lover, SQ1/SQ2 frequent flyer...
SingaporeAirlines all the way!

SIA to suspend flights to Abu Dhabi, Athens
Posted: 16 May 2012 1735 hrs

SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) will suspend services to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Athens in Greece, due to sustained weak performance of both routes.
The last flights to both cities will depart Singapore on October 26, 2012.
SIA said on Wednesday that the decision was a difficult one as the airline has been serving Athens since 1972 and Abu Dhabi since 2006.
It said the suspensions are in line with its policy to match capacity to prevailing market demand.
Customers who have confirmed tickets issued before May 16 for travel to and from Abu Dhabi and Athens after October 26, or after October 27 for the return Abu Dhabi-Singapore service, can get refunds, without administrative fees or penalties.
This also applies to KrisFlyer redemption tickets.
SIA will contact affected customers to offer alternative travel options.
It will continue to serve Dubai in the UAE.
Connections to and from Athens are also possible on Star Alliance partner airlines via several of SIA's other European points.
Abu Dhabi is currently served three times per week.
Athens is served two times per week, rising to three times per week between early July and late September.

Hoping a local Changi expert can let me know how this will work:

My only experience of changing flights at SIN has been from SQ to SQ, so I've never given any thought to checked baggage- it's just there waiting for me when I get to my final destination.

I've just taken advantage of a ridiculously cheap LH fare to fly return from MEL to DUS for a week in July. More than 500 AUD cheaper than the closest price!

(Tried SQ but given their total lack of capacity to/from MEL, every flight was totally sold out in Y.)

Lufthansa is therefore using QF to get me from MEL to SIN and back, then LH flights to/from Germany. Even though QF fly direct to FRA, their price was 700 AUD more expensive.

Can anyone tell me if my checked baggage will go straight through at SIN or will I have to collect it then check it back in? I've never even set foot in T1 so I'm a little unsure!

Thanks

http://www.uob.com.sg/personal/cards...amex_card.html

Fastest Earn Rate
Get to your next destination faster with the fastest way to earn air miles, no minimum spend required.

2.5 miles for every S$1 spent overseas
1.6 miles for every S$1 spent locally
In addition, receive a bonus 20,000 miles every year if you spend more than S$50,000 per annum.

HUGE turn off for UOB & DBS: Each conversion must be in blocks of 10,000 miles. (UNI$5000)

Awarded for every $5 spent. Need to consider the rounding off part.

Say charge S$9.90. CitiPremiermiles u earn 9x1.2=10.8 miles. UOB PRVI Miles Platinum American Express® Card u earn 4 UNI$= 8 miles!!

Unless you are able to charge in multiples of S$5 every time, or you will lose out because of the rounding off part. Say charge exactly S$10, Citi PM u get 12 miles, UOB PRVI u earn 16 miles!

If you do not create that 10,000 miles block, basically you are not earning any miles. BUT, this card is good for earning points to exchange for vouchers. For Isetan S$50 voucher, you need UNI$3060 = spend S$3825, equivalent to 1.3% rebate, similar to Citi PM at 1.2% (Every 1000 miles or S$833 spent = S$10)

Not that it bothers me but I've noticed (more recently than in the past) that the leading crew tend to be clueless in Y and occasionally J cabins. In the rear Y section, there's a lot of faffing around, looking bored and not doing a whole lot. I've seen multiple instances where 2 LS' get in the way of FSS' conducting the meal service, often having to be told what to do. They don't seem to be as motivated as the FSS' and FS' and tend to have an attitude.

These observations have been noted over a string of flights to BOM, PEK, CMB, CGK, HKG and BKK in the last 2 months. I'm hoping i'm just unlucky with the leading crew i've received on my flights and this more the exception than the rule. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

Edit: This isn't ALWAYS the case (on the return from PEK I had a fab. LS that brought back Krug and satay from J to munch on whilst we chatted in the galley) and he was great to talk to, "Mr. viraj735, it's great to see you again, welcome back. If you need anything...except for money, please let me know!" :D
Just a trend i've noticed.
