In the old days prior to the renovation, each of Don Mueang's Piers or "fingers" could accommodate 7 aircraft. Looking towards the runway, a pier would have four jetways on the left for medium to small-sized aircraft and only three on the right for 747s.
My question is, what was the largest aircraft that could park on the left side (the one with four jetways)? Anyone remember? I saw a couple of photos with an L-1011 or DC-10 parked on that side but I'm not sure if they could fit those side-by-side without encroaching on the adjacent space.
Was Don Mueang originally built with these piers or were they just add-ons?
I'm having a hard time finding historical sites as I do not read Thai.
