In the entire 2006, I banked a total of 113,685 mileages towards my Aeroplan Account for status mileage purposes which requalified me for Aeroplan Super Elite Status (Highest Possible Loyalty Status for AC's programs). However out of those 113,685 status miles, only 9,300 (or roughly 8.2%) were earned by flying on an AC metal operated flight. The other 104,385 were mostly earned through SQ flights (93,550 status miles) and the remaining through other *A carriers (10,835 status miles). So in a sense, I am being rewarded with the status defined as Air Canada's most loyal customer but contributed only a small amount of revenue to the airline. And yes I love the double dipping scheme. Not only were 104,385 miles more than enough to requalify me for SE status, but the sectors earned through those SQ flights gets me closer and closer to Solitaire status.
I am sure there are some of you out there that has earned top tier recognition levels for particular carriers but hardly fly them or generate revenues for them. Would love to hear what others have done.
