  • Fairmont Singapore or Swissotel The Merchant Court?

I will go to Singapore on 8 July (so no A380 Inaugural) for 4 nights with my family total 4 ppl incl. me, if the rates are same, which Hotel is more preferrable?

I know the Swissotel is good for my brother as it is in Clarke Quay, and the view of Fairmont would be better for my parents......

Hope all of you can help me to decide, Thanks~!!

It would be very surprising if the rates were the same. If so, then Fairmont is a no brainer.

Fairmont is arguably upper-end/5-star. Swissotel Merchant Court is mid-tier/4-star.

Fairmont's is in a very central location and linked to Raffles City (a much better mall compared to the one next to Merchant Court).

If you are using the MRT (Metro), City Hall Station (underground) is 2 minutes from Fairmont's lobby and it is an interchange, so you need not change trains to most places.

        I echo the Fairmont recommendations.

In any case, Clarke Quay is a short 5 min taxi ride from the Fairmont

I stayed at fairmont last year - try the club rooms with lounge access. In a word, superb.

Now im writing this from Sofitel hyland in shanghai- same deal as fairmont but no where near as good.

Very central and great feel. Enjoy. Ps. make sure you get the new wing!!!!

                Nope.

I started out as the Westin Plaza, then became Raffles The Plaza, then Fairmont.

flyguy, you possibly might be thinking of it's giant cousin on the same block - Swissotel the Stamford.
