PARIS (Reuters) - European planemaker Airbus, which has been hit by major project delays, said on Saturday it had fixed problems surrounding the cables of its A380 superjumbo.

"We have finished the electrical installation," said Airbus spokesman Tore Prang, confirming an earlier report in German magazine Focus.

"We have handed the aircraft to the cabin equipment team to install the first A380," he added.

Production problems at Airbus have caused a slump in the financial fortunes of its parent company EADS, which this week issued its third profit warning in less than a year.

Prang said resolving the issue of incorrectly installed cables meant Airbus was on track to deliver the plane to Singapore Airlines.

"This means we have passed a major milestone for the A380 recovery programme," he said.

There's only One way to fly.... SINGAPORE AIRLINES!
If SQ is too expensive, the other way to fly is Qatar Airways

OK so they have sorted out the wiring, it has now been flight certified so why is it going to take until October to deliver the first plane. Surelythey could bring the date forward.

UPS to Cancel Order for 10 Airbus A380 Freighters

United Parcel Service Inc., the world's largest package-shipping company, is set to cancel its order for 10 Airbus SAS A380 super-jumbo freighters, Les Echos reported, without saying where it got the information. UPS may announce its decision as early as next week.

The cancellation would allow Airbus to reduce development costs by about 1 billion euros ($1.29 billion), shifting resources from the freighter project to the double-decker passenger model.
