  • SPG Eliminates Most Peak Season Awards and Announces Hotel Categories for 2009

Well it's that time of year again and SPG has announced their category changes. From what I can see there's a lot more going down than up. Peak awards for categories 5-7 are being eliminated.

As this is SQTalk, the St. Regis Singapore comes up often in discussions and those will be pleased to hear it's moving down to Cat 5 from Cat 6.

    Other notable changes...

Westin Tokyo moving to Cat 6

Following moving from Cat 5 to Cat 4:
    Westin Sydney
    Westin Melbourne
    Westin Chosun, Seoul
    W Seoul
    Le Meridien Vienna
    Le Meridien Brussels
    Westin Dublin
    Sheraton Stockholm
    Sheraton Belgravia London
Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh
    The Park Lane Hotel, London
    W San Diego
    The US Grant, San Diego
    Sheraton Kauai
    W Chicago Lakeshore
    Westin Michigan Avenue, Chicago
    W Minneapolis

Following moving from Cat 6 to Cat 5:
    Le Parker Meridien, NYC
    Westin New York Times Square
    W New York
Arion, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Astir Palace Athens
    Westin Europa & Regina, Venice
