  • Eating Out on Chinese New Year in Singapore

    Hi guys...
Will be in in Singapore at 26Jan (Chinese New Year day) for one day...
Been told that almost all store will closed on that day.... Is that true?
Is there any sugestion for a proper dining on that day? are restaurants open on that day (except the hotel restaurants)? we prefer the local delicacies.
Will stay at Novotel Clarke Quay.
    Thanks guys....

Many of the stores will be closed. However, for local food, you can expect to find the non-Chinese run (Malay, Indian etc) to be open. If you want Chinese though, there probrably will be a few places around but you will most likely have to eat a hotel restaurant.
Such a way about you, My Singapore Girl. Wouldn't go away without you, My Singapore Girl.

Some food courts and restaurants will definitely be open. It shouldn't be a problem actually

Majority of places will be closed, but the hotel concierge will be able to help with recommendations. The problem for the most part is that places that are open on Day 1 are not necessarily the best representatives of local yummies - the best cooks are usually off for their major holiday for the year! Hotel restaurants may be a much more reliable bet.

Best bet to savor local CNY goodies will be to pay a visit to the homes chinese friends while in Singapore...... and standby your auspicious red packets (envelops), of course stuff with token sum of money, in any currency...

I would think quite a bit of Robertson Quay, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay will be open still. In the tough economy the restaurants will be out to find every last tourist dollar.

At the very least you'll find Harry's at Robertson Quay
