JetBlue plane forced to make emergency landing Long Beach Airport,

(CBS) LONG BEACH, Calif. A JetBlue jetliner has made a safe landing at the Long Beach Airport, after one engine was damaged when the plane hit some birds on take-off.

The Federal Aviation Administration says Flight 244 from Long Beach to Oakland returned to Long Beach and landed without incident.

Passengers disembarked normally at an airport gate.

Authorities say the pilot reported hearing a loud noise during the eleven-a-m take-off, and he decided to return because of the apparent engine damage.

The jet landed about a half-hour later.

Officials say some bird remains were found on the airfield.
