Well I was prepared to downgrade myself at the gate so I went to the gate and told the lady I wanted to downgrade myself since it was unlikely my GM friend would clear the WL on the overbooked flight in Business. I was giving the agent the DM card as I said this and then she pushed some buttons and voila my friend had a business class BP So I flew in C on UA. Yes it's not like flying on SQ on your birthday, but flying with someone special should make up for the experience. Ya know it's not very gentleman like to fly in C while your loved one is in Y hence I was willing to downgrade. Just to note I couldn't WL my friend for an UG until day of departure since she was booked on a LH codeshare operated by UA. Asking a travel agent in a foreign country to change the flight to the UA flight number probably would cause too much confusion.

To KUL, not sure. I will be in SIN sometime during the latter part of November.
