  • Visiting KL - Suggestions

So I'll be in KL for about 10 days after the Singapore GP.
I was wondering, having been and done the whole "city centre" thing (plus the bird santuary, Melaka, dinner at revolving restaurant), can some of our experienced travellers and Malaysia experts offer some suggestions for
"Things to Do for an Orang Puteh"

If you wanted a few days somewhere, where might you go?
    Beach resorts?
Or another country that is reasonably accessible and doesn't involve a 10 hour flight (via MH or SQ, pref SQ for miles........)?
    Again, suggestions positively welcomed.
If God had really intended men to fly, he'd make it easier to get to the airport.

You could spend 3 days at Taman Negara National Park, then head to Penang or Langkawi for the beach.

Cameron Highlands is very nice and scenic. Rent a car and drive around.

Genting Highlands is nearer to KL, around an hour's drive, and more commercialised (it's also got a casino, the only one in this part of the world until the Singapore one gets built).

      or

Penang (PEN) - best food and cheap to boot. Fairly nice beaches, and very charming. Lots of 'orang puteh' visit once and become permanent repeat visitors (you can fly SQ from SIN - PEN). I repeat. Really good food!!!

Why not head to pulau perhentian or tioman - I quite like those two places. Peaceful, fairly affordable, nice beaches

Completely agree that there is fantastic food to be had in Penang.

"Another country that is reasonably accessible" - can't go wrong with Phuket or Bangkok, 2 of my favourite places in SE Asia. Particularly Phuket, where you'd find something to do regardless of whether you're there to relax by the beach, sightsee (James Bond island etc),scubadive or get horribly drunk. They've got a cool Ned Kelly bar near Patong Beach with v cheap beer (and overpriced VBs).
