Clear Immigration in HKT or BKK on a HKT-xBKK-KUL itinerary?

I wonder - since my flight goes HKT-BKK-KUL - will they ask me to clear CIQ in HKT or BKK?

I thought so. In the past when I did a lot of CNX-BKK (DMK really) -KUL's they used to sometimes give me a choice whether to clear in CNX or BKK, but most of the time it was in CNX. I got a little CIQ sticker to wear and when i got off in DMK they'd put me on a bus and drive me to the intl. terminal.

FWIW, I flew NRT-BKK-HKT and cleared immigration in BKK but customs in HKT.
