  • The Elysian Boutique Hotel, Bali - opinions please

    http://www.theelysian.com/

I am starting to plan my visit to Bali in July. Seeing that the clubs either center on Kuta or Seminyak, I've decided to look for hotels in either of the two. This rules out any of the Starwood properties - they seem AGES away from either place. I've also always had a burning desire to go to Bali and can't possibly wait till the W opens.......

Seeing that I will get over the line for SPG PLT retention this year quite comfortably, I've decided to stay off-chain.

So anyhoo I found the Elysian from designhotels.com which specialises in hip hotels. The property appears to be an all-villa hotel. From the candid photos on tripadvisor, the rooms look very modern, with a funky edge. The bathrooms look especially cool. So decor wise - satisfies what I'm looking for. Plus apparently I get complimentary access to a few clubs in Seminyak. Also get free breakfast (if I wake up in time for it... ha ha ha) and free wifi.

The tripadvisor people also liked it, FWIW.

Now questions for the Bali experts: Can anyone who's stayed here please comment on the service and the location ?

On the location, its site states:
The Elysian is right in the heartland of the islands hip, home-ware and fashion stores, gourmet cafes, restaurants and bars that personify the islands luxury lifestyle.
I am finding it hard to analyse that tiny map on its website. I have been cautioned against walking anywhere in Bali. So I am interested to know if being "right in the heartland" of the "gourmet cafes, restaurants and bars" = everything is a mere short stroll from the property?

Oh and they also run a free shuttle service - but I somehow doubt it operates 24/7. The rate also includes airport transfers in an "air conditioned luxury vehicle."

Well it's either this or the Contiki Resort where my friend stayed not long ago. She's recommending it very highly for the social life - but the rooms don't look all that nice...

    Thanks!

For location, elysian is located behind kudeta... the entrance is just next to it. So, it will be the same area as the legian..... easy to get cab....hehehe...should try double six, dejavu, and baccio in petitenget beach (if i'm not wrong hehehe...)... Also, try Kudoz and Q bar which located opposite of each other...

service-wise...i only heard from people who stayed there but personally i've never tried it..because they always fully booked and bit pricey everytime i wanted to stay there...

if you want villa with easy access to food, try this two villas.... www.sesaribali.com or www.bvilla.com .... the second one, was designed by a japanese... good locations and easy access to most of the restaurants in seminyak...like mosaic or papparazzi....

Thanks blast-off. That B-villa also sounds very nice.

So I reckon I'd try for both Elsyian and B-villa so I have some fall-back options should I fail to get into one.

That bvilla is looking pretty cool. KeithMEL, you'll have to check them all out and report back to us. Especially how they compare to my favorite, Aman.
