  • Passenger service charge will be collected when flights out of Thailand are ticketed

    From the SIA website:

From 1 November 2006, the passenger service charge (or airport tax) will be collected when you ticket for flights out of Thailand, when travel is from 1 February 2007 onwards. The new passenger service charge for travel out of Thailand from 1 February onwards will also be increased to THB700 per passenger.
If you are traveling out of Thailand from 1 February 2007 and you have already received your ticket, the passenger service charge of THB700 will be collected when you check in at the airport.

Infants (children under 2 years of age) and transit/transfer passengers need not pay a passenger service charge.

For more information, please contact your travel agent or call Singapore Airlines (Bangkok) at Tel:+66-2-353-6000 or visit www.singaporeair.com/th

A day trip to BKK seems not worth it anymore - more departure tax plus the hassle of the new BKK.
