  • Virgin Atlantic cabin crew to go on strike

    http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...-23349,00.html

About a third of Virgin Atlantic's cabin crew will participate in two 48-hour strikes on January 9-10 and January 16-17.

The airline has announced that it will cancel 12 flights as a result of the action. The flights are between London and New York, Chicago, Nairobi and Boston.

Interestingly, it is a criminal offence to go on strike for employees in the transport industry in Singapore. They will sent to jail.
That gives passengers more confidence that their flights will not be cancelled because of industrial action I guess.

Sir Richard Branson has told Virgin Atlantic staff who are threatening to strike over a wage deal offered by the airline to consider working elsewhere.

In a letter to 4,800 cabin crew, the Virgin boss warned he would not be meeting pay demands.

Workers' union Unite called the letter from Sir Richard "provocative".
