i think ..cathay not order A380 ...because it had a very bad experience with A340 600..

Unlikely.. In my opinion, they have weighted the benefits of A380, but haven't found a compelling reason to order it yet. They may order it in the future, but in the mean time maybe not.

I find it interesting that a number of top-tier, financially stable carriers (CX, BA, JL come to mind) have, as yet, not committed to 747-400 replacements.

I don't think CX won't buy the A380 so soon, they may, they may not. They may buy the 747-8I instead. I think they are looking at the performance of SQ's A380 before deciding whether to buy the Superjumbo.

they will buy the A380 sooner or later as they do have a few routes that easily can support the A380s

Any chance does anyone knows that CX 882 would be a refurbished seat instead of CX 884?

You'll have to page our resident CX experts kchika and RJA for that.

BA has a fleet of 57 B747-400s - the largest 400s series operator in the world. BA have only announced orders to replace half the B747 fleet with a mix of B787s & A380s. They are still deciding between B787-10, A350XWB & B777-300ERs for the bulk of the fleet. Interestingly, not B747-8 OR A380.

If it's LAX-HKG (year round) they should take the B747-8I. It has greater range, they've already got them coming in freighter format & they would complement the fleet very well.
