  • Hotels in Macau?...

I'll spend the first days (and nights) of 2008 in Macau with a couple of friends... would be glad about any suggestions on hotels, restaurants, nightlife, places not to be missed...

Most importantly... what hotel or resort would you suggest? We were thinking about the brand new Venetian Resort... but I've heard the Wynn and the Sands are not too bad neither... and there's also a Mandarin Oriental... how about location?

Any first hand experiences, comments, suggestions where it's most fun to burn your money?

Also is it possible (advisable?) to buy ferry tickets from Hong Kong to Macau beforehand, as Both Hong Kong and Macau will be busy around New Year? If yes, where would that be?

    Thanks

Wynn is very nice and definitely looks more classy. It is also located in the center of town. I actually have pictures of the rooms.

Venetian with 3000 rooms is huge but the check in process is still in a mess. Also, Venetian is located in a newly developed area so there is not so much you could explore at night but the hotel. But the hotel and the complex does offer a lot.

I don't think you can stay at The Sands unless you belong to the high roller member of the casino.

As for ferry transfer, you could transfer directly from HKIA as well without clearing immigration at HKIA. All tickets can be purchased on the internet from this website or can be purchased at the airport just before the immigration counter.

Wynn, Mandarin Oriental and Venetian would be the expensive hotels but also the ones to go if u have the cash

For budget travellers, the 4* Golden Dragon Hotel just within walking distance from the Ferry Terminal is not a bad choice.

Indeed Wynn, venetian are expensive hotels.. hahas but the money you pay will be worth it la.. anyway, i been to macau last year with my family and i lived in "Casa Real Hotel Macau" hmm there a casino inside too and the service rating is perhaps 3.5/5. daily buffet breakfast was great (yummy) its about 10-15minutes away from the HK-Macau Ferry Terminal and about 30minutes from Macau International Airport. Room is huge or long instead. wonderful stay for me. =D

Thanks for the feedback... much appreciated! Booked the Venetian because its rooms are 300 HK$ cheaper than the Wynn... look forward to my stay there

Sorry to bump an old thread.

I'm looking for hotels in Macau also. I'm going to go to Macau for 1 day and head back to Hong Kong. I want to explore the city and gamble a bit so should I stay at the Venetian, Wynn or any other suggestions or should I head straight back to HK and stay there again.

If you want to explore the city a little bit, then stay at the Wynn since it is close to the Ferry terminal and in the city. Venetian is in the new area and can be harder to explore at night. Although in terms of size, Venetian can't be beaten.

Wynn has more class to me.

I think there's a new but small ferry terminal at Taipa, located near the Venetian.

unfortunately ferry service from that terminal has been suspended due to a court case in Macau~
