KUL to MEL - Best option?

Hey peeps,

Just want to pick your brains a bit. Trying to schedule a holiday to Melbourne next March and am looking at all possible options, ie cheapest.

AirAsia X has just advertise it's KUL - OOL route, and I managed to price the cheapest at around RM1,500 all in. To get to MEL from OOL, what is the cheapest option? Managed to check Virgin Blue, at about AUD250...

For full service, SQ has KUL - SIN - MEL at RM3000. MH has it at about RM2900. Travel dates, 16th March - 30th March 2008.

MEL-OOL is LCCs' galore - you have a choice of DJ, JQ and TT. Maybe check out TT. And sign up to JQ's Jetmail (on jetstar.com) to receive announcements of their fare sales.

Personally I'd just do SQ or QF for the lounge access and miles being the ffp ho that i am. And of course you get a more or less direct flight if it's only MEL that you want to visit.
