  • EgyptAir to join *A

    http://www.staralliance.com/en/press...Air_final.html

Following the successful conclusion of membership talks with EgyptAir, the Chief Executive Board of Star Alliance has voted to accept as a future member, the national airline of Egypt, which in the last five years has undergone a significant transformation process and is now one of the foremost carriers in Africa and the Middle East.

    ...

With the integration process now underway, EgyptAir is set to become a full Star Alliance member carrier within the next 18 months. EgyptAir will add nine additional unique airports into the Star Alliance network, bringing the overall total to more than 17,700* daily flights serving 944* destinations in 161* countries.
"One of the foremost carriers in Africa and the Middle East"?? Either that or I'm just a n00b as I've not heard or read much about them.

Haven't much heard of them either (Egyptair). "One of the foremost carriers in Africa and the Middle East" ??... THY (Turkish) is considering to join Star Alliance as well, but concerning these flightlegs it makes more sense.

    Air China - Beijing-Istanbul
Turkish is seriously considering joining the Star Alliance. Air China is in the process to become a Star Alliance member.

    Air China - Beijing-Warsaw
Lot is a Star Alliance member.

    China Southern - Beijing-Newark
CZ and CO are both Skyteam Members.

    China Southern - Guangzhou-Moscow
CZ and SU are also Skyteam members

    China Eastern - Shanghai-Los Angeles
China Eastern is being "courted" by OneWorld

      Oh my god, not again...

AI & MS is not a good combination.
We put labels on people and fight wars over them. If we truly want harmony, we have to get past the labels.

NO NO NO!!!!!!! Star Alliance seems to only care about quantity. Air India has made improvements at least. Who wants EgyptAir in an alliance because they have abosloutely NOTHING to offer. Thinking of EgyptAir and Air India makes me cringe! I hope the new interiors get installed in ALL Air India aircraft.
