  • British Airways To Update Fleet

Just seen on www.abtn.co.uk that British Airways has announced its eagerly awaited order for new aircraft. The airline has committed itself for 12 Airbus A380s (with deliveries from 2012) and 24 Boeing 787s (2010). They will be delivered by 2014.

    See full article here.

Indeed, with only about a third of BA's existing 744 fleet replaced by this new order.

True, but if Flight International's quotes are correct, BA isn't considering the 748i.

But BA is still working on the replacement of the remainder of its 747-400 fleet. It lists the candidate aircraft as the 787-10, 777-300ER and A350 XWB, but no mention is made of the 747-8.

The order only covers a fraction of the B744 fleet. BA have 57 + 20ish aging B767s to replace. The second order will be the big one. Shame about the not listing B748i as a possible candidate. Would love to see some B77Ws in BA colours...
