  • Extension of miles

    Hello,

Currently I have 23000 miles and in october 2007 I will fly back to asia so begin november 2007 I will have around 38000 miles.

Normally my miles will expire end january 2008. But in april 2008 I will go back to asia so at that moment I will have another 15000 miles.

So is there a possibility that I extend the 38000 miles that expire january 2008 so that I can get a gold card with my 50000 miles that I will reach in april 2008?

If yes would it cost me something?

    Thanks in advance.

hi golf and welcome to sqtalk. i am a little confused about your post. you say that you currently have 23,000 miles- when were these miles earned? did you earn these in january 2005, because you say they will expire in january 2008, and miles are redeemable for 3 years. or do you mean that for your qualifying year, you have currently accrued 23,000 miles? If it is the former, know that KF membership is recalculated at the end of your 12 month period, so all miles will be reset to zero for qualification purposes. therefore, if your miles were earned in january 2005, you currently have zero qualification miles towards silver or gold. however, you have 23,000 redeemable miles, which will expire in january 2008. if the miles were accrued in the past year, getting an extension until april 2008 from january 2008 I would have to say would be a pretty long bet. i think SQ makes exceptions when you might need an extra month to get your miles for the qualifying period, and you already have purchased a ticket that will show that you will fulfill the mileage, but an extra 3 months will most likely be rejected, especially when considering the changes singapore air has been implementing, but it never hurts to ask. hope this helps. =)

If I reach 38000 miles in november 2007, and I buy 12000 miles (because I have 70 % of miles) before the end of my qualification period january 2008, do I also receive my gold card?

Nope you won't get Elite Gold if you buy this 12000 miles. You need elite miles. Buying of miles is not elite miles. Elite miles are miles earned on SQ, Silkair, VS and Star Alliance airlines. This does not include bonus 25% miles they give as an elite silver member.

Also excluded from status qualification are miles earned through SIA-associated credit card spending.

For the flight to MUC for example I got 464 miles on my SQ Krisflyer account but my collegue received 500 miles for his Thai Gold card for the same flight? How is that possible?

Thai ROP has a min credit of 500 miles for flights less than 500 miles whereas KF does not.

If you credit that to LH M&M, you will receive 2000 miles for business class intra-Europe.
