For those who haven't seen the release:

Interesting what SQ will come up with, now that CX has launched their next generation cabins!

Oh no, being a traitor just got easier.

C'mon, SQ, show me you don't want me to stray.

I'm sure SQ can come up with something better than CX.

The J seems very similar to AC's lie flat seats

The announcement is pretty interesting as a strategy: announce now, launch later. Seems designed to steal thunder or avoid being seen as a me-too.

I wonder which is the airline who chose the most similar design to CX's. That marketing team must be scrambling to adjust their campaign.

On a side note, since CGK was head-over-heels in love with the NZ seat, does this mean we'll see him enjoying more moments when he's really flying?

Interesting stuff indeed. I like the look of the new J but can't make my mind up about the F. I find it a bit strange for them to say 'we believe this is the biggest', surely they would know this for certain if it was ?.

The website, while showing the seats doesn't allow you to press a button and 'watch' them operate like you can on a number of other new recent product launches. Or have I missed something ?.

I think the new Y looks excellent, but I can't find where it says what the pitch will be...?

The marker has been set, as rushed as it seems to have been done. The new Raffles is set for launch in about 3 weeks I believe. Over to you, SQ...

According to tfung over at CathayTalk, this new CX J is different to the VS J, as this one does not need to be flipped over to turn it into a bed. So it reclines all the way into a bed. That is a big advantage IMO.

I like the idea of not reclining into someone else's space in Y, but hate the idea of having the magazine pocket below my seat. It's gonna make reaching magazines, things etc which I normally stuff into the magazine pocket a chore.

Well, you could look at it as people practicing the "Brace! Brace!" position shown to them by the CX safety video.

I am curious about whether it will be an inconvenient placement of the magazine holder. Judging from their RBC and NBC seats, as well as that inane fixed remote control on some of their aircraft, CX does not have a good track record of figuring out how people actually sit, recline and use their space. I hope CX have learned their lesson.
