  • MEL officially dropped from list of 77W destinations

The statement on the website now reads:

From Dec' 06, these aircraft will be progressively introduced on routes from Singapore to Paris, Hong Kong, Milan, Barcelona, Zurich, Seoul, San Francisco and Frankfurt.
Shanghai appears to have been dropped as well.
Seems like the A380 delay changed their plans?

    SQ doesn't love me.
    *commences period of mourning*

When the 744's are gone, what then? Patience my friend

I wouldn't count on that yet Keith, I get the feeling they are making these decisions on the hop at the moment.

Anywhere that has a 744 service - especially a destination which has just one of numerous services a day operated by a 744 - is a contender for the 77W.

Don't jump off the bridge yet !.

Hmmm ... How are you going to hold your drinks? I hope you don't drink at the pub through a straw!

            A beer bong always works.

I'm booked on SQ346/345 for a Dec ski vacation. But looks like ZRH will not get the 77W till Jan, is that correct?

Bring on a 4th LHR service with it being extended to YYZ. Please forgive my selfishness.

                        YIPPEE!!!!! SAN FRANCISCO!!!!!

I know which flight I'll be trying to book onto next year!

Saw on the other thread that the 77W will take on the SIN-ICN-SFO route currently served by 772ER. Can the 77W not make SIN-SFO nonstop? I suppose it's probably just a few miles shorter than SIN-LAX, so probably not, even though the 77W does have a nice range.

Right .. it will be SIN-ICN-SFO. I think the traffic for this particular route is very high. Thus, it's more make sense to keep the stop at ICN. But yes, with the added F cabin, SQ would generate more revenues.
